It was previously reported that Nina Dobrev will be joining Ian Somerhalder for the 8th season of "The Vampire Diaries." It was speculated that Nina Dobrev will be the one to save the series from its ratings that are starting to fall apart.

As the ratings continually dip, it was revealed that the show runner are planning to reunite Elena and Damon's relationship. The speculations have been ongoing after it was revealed that the 8th season of "The Vampire Diaries" could possibly the last.

CelebrDirty Laundry released a report wherein Julie Plec posted a photo of the cast, which got "The Vampire Diaries" fans thinking about Nina Dobrev's absence. They then got into speculations that Nina Dobrev might not make it to the 8th season.

Though it seems like Nina Dobrev may be the rest of the casts' hope to increase the series' ratings, it is still unconfirmed if Nina Dobrev is making a comeback or not. For "The Vampire Diaries'" 7th season, the episode ended with Elena's voice wherein she could be heard. Elena's cry seem to confirm the speculations that Nina Dobrev could possible return, but the rest of the show runners have yet to comment on the rumors of Nina Dobrev's comeback.

Zap 2 It released a few characters that would be joining the series' 8th season. Aside from Ian Somerhalder, it was also revealed that Kristen Gutoskie and Zach Roerig. To add up to speculations, Movie News Guide hinted that Nina Dobrev may actually come back, but she will be playing a different character.
