NBA Trade Rumors: Boston Celtics Should Pursue A Trade For Monta Ellis

NBA trade rumors suggest that the Boston Celtics should take in to make their team better. If we look close, we can see that Boston might end up as one of the top four teams this season. It is after a long time that the Celtics are viewed as a tough team to compete with according to NBA trade rumors. But, with the current roster, if the team plays their full potential, nothing can stop them.

The 2016-17 NBA season might turn out to be a very promising one for the Boston Celtics as the NBA trade rumors suggest. The head coach Brad Stevens has put in efforts to ensure that the team reached the playoffs in the last two NBA seasons.

What makes the Celtics position better is the fact that they were able to pool in Al Horford in free agency this offseason. He has been signed in for four years and a contract which cost them $113 million. NBA rumors suggest that this big move makes the team formidable and a great threat, reported The Inquisitr.  

However, there are few areas that the team can improve upon. It would make the team even stronger if they can bring in another scorer in the backcourt. A strong player in the area coupled with star point guard Isaiah Thomas, would make it difficult for other teams to ignore the strength of Boston Celtics. There are reports as well as NBA rumors that suggest that Monta Ellis has been shopped by the Indiana Pacers in trade talks this offseason. However, the team is not completely satisfied with the performance of Monta Ellis in the last season. Ellis had an average of 13.8 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game. He shot 42.7 percent from the field and knocked down 30.9 percent of his three-point shots. This was not good enough for the team but what we need to see is that Monta Ellis and his game did not fit into the role that head coach Frank Vogel assigned to him, reported Sportsrageous.

NBA trade rumors suggest that now that Vogel is replaced by Nate McMillan, it is possible that Monta Ellis will fare better in the coming season. Ellis and Thomas will be pieces of a jigsaw puzzle joined together in the Celtics' backcourt. Ellis can be used as a slasher and extra ball-handler and this will ensure that the pressure is taken off the shoulders of Isaiah Thomas. During the last season, Ellis displayed his ability to switch gears and be a team players. He was seen to make plays for teammates. This will be an asset to Celtics.
