Parents on Mumsnet Share Worst Parenting Advice Received: The Results are Hilarious!

Parents, especially if it is their first time to have a child of their own, tend to have lots of questions that need answering. These questions cover a broad range of topics that range from nutrition to sleeping patterns and even to the best kinds of clothes for their little angels. However, parents should also be wary that not all advice they get is good advice.

One user of parenting website Mumsnet asked her fellow users to share stories about the weirdest parenting advice they've ever gotten. Needless to say, this ended up having hilarious results. There were posts that made people crack up and those that made people reread them in utter confusion. And these ill-informed pieces of advices did not just come from random people online. Some of them even came from very close family members such as aunts, fathers, and even in-laws. Some of them even came from professionals such as midwives. If these came from trusted people, then parents should be extra careful about what they hear from random people online.

The Daily Mail compiled some of the most eyebrow raising and hilarious pieces of advice in a single article for the pleasure of their readers. Among these were being told that babies eyes don't open for the first couple of weeks of their life, just like kittens. Another user wrote that she was once told by a health visitor to feed her baby a highly unhealthy mix of crumble and custard to keep him awake.

While it is hard to find out which pieces of advice are actually true, if these do sound a bit fishy then it would probably for the best to stay away from them. Parents should also make sure that they follow what is tried and tested, and they should always be careful when trying something that is relatively new.
