#PolishedMen: A Heart Warming Reason on Why Men Paints Their Fingernail

Polished nails for men are slowly becoming a thing, with the most heartwarming reason behind the trend. Men paint one of their fingernails for a cause to stand against violence on children.

The trend started in Australia when Elliot Costello met a little girl, Thea. Though it may seem like a sweet gesture for a man to have his nails painted for a little girl, but the reason behind the movement is quite heartbreaking.

One of his travels, Elliot met Thea in Cambodia. The sweet little girl who is scarred with a gut-wrenching past. As their relationship got closer, Thea started sharing her daily struggles, one of the things that Elliot noticed however is the fact that Thea would manage to paint her nails.

Upon getting a closer look on Thea's life, Elliot discovered that the sweet little girl he's always talking to is caught in a brutal past. Thea was sexually abused, which Elliot made a pack that he would keep his fingernail painted as a remembrance of Thea and the struggle she went through as per Earth Child's report.

Elliot then made a movement that reached new heights. He came up with The Polished Man Project. His movement's aim is to have participants paint one fingernail for the entire week. It was then added that the painted fingernail would represent one out of five children that suffers sexual abuse.

"Being a Polished Man means challenging violent behavior and language, both locally and globally," The Polished Man website mentioned.

As for Elliot Costello on the other hand, the YGAP co-founder and CEO stated that he is hoping to start a challenge that would turn into a global movement.Today then added that he and his team's mission is to change the understanding on what it would be like to be a man.

"Our hope is to create a global movement that will lead change in the conversation about what it means to be a man," Costello stated. "By supporting positive male role models who support equality and the rights of a child, we can create a community of male change-makers."
