‘Scandal’ Season 6 [SPOILERS]: ABC President Confirms ‘Return To Form’ Season; Kerry Washington Hides Pregnancy As Olivia Tries To Save Mellie’s Candidacy

It's still a long way to go before "Scandal" season 6 makes its television premiere but fans are already looking forward to what the series has to offer this upcoming season. While Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and the Gladiators are enjoying the series' hiatus, ABC President Channing Dungey officially confirmed last month that the new season will be a "return to form."

During the Television Critics Association in August, Dungey shared some details about the upcoming "Scandal" season 6. According to PopSugar, Dungey described the script for the new season as "fantastic" and a "return to form."

Aside from Dungey, "Scandal" season 6 lead actress Kerry Washington, who's currently pregnant with her second child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, also shared some information tidbits about the upcoming season. During a guest appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," Washington revealed that fans won't see Olivia Pope sporting a baby bump instead, she will be hiding her pregnancy through some set props such as big coats and bags or using the body parts of her co-actors, International Business Times noted.

As for "Scandal" season 6 storylines, the upcoming season will kick off on the election night where Mellie (Bellamy Young) goes head to head with Frankie (Ricardo Chavira) as the next President of the United States (POTUS). However, Mellie's POTUS dream may be thwarted by a cheating scheme, courtesy of ex-U.S. President Fitzgerald Grant's (Tony Goldwyn) former chief-of-staff and vice presidential nominee Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry), Parent Herald previously reported.

Despite the fact that "Scandal" season 6 may turn into a "bloodbath" season, especially with Cyrus at a great advantage against Mellie, Olivia will reportedly do everything she can to save Mellie's candidacy. In fact, Ecumenical News hinted that Liv might be devising some game plan to defeat Cyrus.

Meanwhile, "Scandal" season 6 will not be part of ABC's Thursday-night lineup this fall. Instead, the upcoming season will return as part of the network's midseason TV show listing in January 2017 but some reports revealed the series' air date will be on Feb. 11, retaining its usual 9 p.m. Thursday night timeslot.
