‘American Horror Story’ Creator Ryan Murphy Developing Secret Season? All Episodes Written By One Person

Ryan Murphy still has many tricks up his sleeve for "American Horror Story." The FX anthology series is currently on its sixth season dubbed "American Horror Story: Roanoke," which is expected to present numerous twists and turns to the show's loyal viewers.

It doesn't seem like the series' horrific elements will stop soon, though. Murphy, the series' co-creator, revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly that he is currently developing a secret season that only he and one unnamed writer know about.

"It's like a two-year project that we'll continue to work on the sly and not tell anybody," Murphy told EW. "American Horror Story," which first aired in 2011, is known for its interconnected storylines. "AHS: Roanoke," for instance, is connected to "Freak Show," specifically to its petulant psychopath Dandy Mott (Finn Wittrock), according to a separate report from EW.

Murphy is still unsure about when the secret "American Horror Story" will premiere, and it doesn't look like it will happen soon because, as Screen Rant pointed out, plans are already laid out for Season 7. However, it's highly likely that it will still be picked up by FX after the seventh season, judging from the current season's good ratings performance.

The top-secret "American Horror Story" season will be an "experiment" and is a "different way" of doing the show, Murphy shared. He added that there's only "one person writing all episodes and they "might get them done and shoot them on the sly and drop it," EW further reported.

The highly secretive "AHS: Roanoke" already released two episodes, which are centered on a supernatural docuseries titled "My Roanoke Nightmare" that integrates the infamous 1590s Roanoke Colony disappearance. Co-creator Brad Falchuk said that the season's biggest twist will begin in episode 6, with Murphy adding that the episode will mark a "huge turn" in Season 6 and "the thing that you think you're watching is not what you're watching," EW reported.

The story of "AHS: Roanoke" is "inspired by true events" experienced by a couple, Shelby (Lily Rabe) and Matt Miller (Andre Holland). In the dramatic reenactment, the two are being played by Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr., The Hollywood Reporter listed.

"AHS: Roanoke" also stars Lady Gaga, Adina Porter, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Wes Bentley, and Denis O'Hare. The season's covert marketing campaign will continue all throughout its course, with none of the actors or producers allowed to give interviews so the ongoing plot will not be spoiled. "American Horror Story: Roanoke" airs every Wednesdays at 10 PM ET on FX.
