'Making A Murderer' Season 2 News & Updates: Steven Avery Gets 'Early Release' From Engagement To Lynn Hartman

"Making a Murderer" subject Steven Avery is a free man! That is, he's no longer engaged to Lynn Hartman. The couple, who only met once and have immediately gotten engaged when the latter visited the prisoner early this month, have apparently broken up.

Sources say that "Making a Murderer" subject Steven Avery tried calling Lynn Hartman after the couple granted separate interviews for "Dr. Phil." However, Hartman has apparently blocked Avery's calls since then.

"Steven just called his mother and told her that he hasn't talked to Lynn since she filmed Dr. Phil," revealed a source via People. "Something happened at Dr. Phil." The said episode featuring the "Making a Murderer" subject and his supposed fiancé aired on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 3 and 4.

Now, "Making a Murderer's" Steven Avery's family is accusing Lynn Hartman of being a gold digger. They believe that the legal secretary wants to cash in on the potential interviews that will arise from her relationship with Avery.

According to New York Daily News, she apparently received $5,000 from the TV appearance on "Dr. Phil" and she'll likely to earn more since she'll be talking about the breakup. A post going around on social media has corroborated the speculations on Lynn Hartman's motives.

As Parent Herald previously reported, "Making a Murderer" subject Steven Avery have been "dating" through letters with Lynn Hartman for eight months. On the same "Dr. Phil" show, which was filmed before the breakup happened, Steven Avery regarded his relationship with Lynn Hartman as different from all the other women in his life.

The couple had plans to hold their wedding as soon as Steven Avery gets out of prison. "I don't think that'll be too long; right around the corner," he told Dr. Phil on the show, according to The Wrap. His lawyers have been working on appealing his case as shown on previous episodes of "Making a Murderer."
