'Supergirl' Returns with All New Characters and Some Major Plot Twists

Popular hit series "Supergirl" returns on "CW" with some major changes and some new characters. One of the very first new major characters that will receive airtime and most likely a very important role in the series is her cousin Superman, played by Tyler Hoechlin. As "Supergirl" is a series that originally stemmed out from the original "Superman" story, it is no surprise that fans will get to see Superman somewhere in the show. Aside from Tyler Hoechlin's Superman, fans will also get to see Lynda Carter appear in the series as well.

Lynda Carter is most well known for her role as Wonder Woman in the seventies hit series with the same name. In "Supergirl", she will be playing the president Olivia Marsdin. According to E Online, Carter will appear in the third episode of Season 2" with "Supergirl" protecting her during an attack after an aliens vs. human rights debate. Carter will be debuting her first episode on October 24, 2016.

Another Kryptonian who might be appearing in "Supergirl" is Mon-El. In the season finale, Kara sees a pod like hers land on earth. Although the episode didn't reveal who was in the pod, Andrew Kreisberg revealed it to be Mon-El or better known in the comics as Superboy.

Cadmus will also be in the next season of "Supergirl" as well. According to Cinema Blend, the government facility behind project Cadmus will be playing a significant role in season 2 although may not be considered a main antagonist of "Supergirl". Project Cadmus is known for the experiments involving genetic engineering of clones of both heroes and villains. Fans will also find out that Kara's father, who supposedly died years ago, is still alive at Cadmus.

Fans will also be happy to know that "Supergirl" will be a part of a crossover arc starring the Flash, the Arrow, and the Legends of Tomorrow. This crossover between the superheroes of three DC shows will most likely happen late in the season.

"Supergirl" airs every Monday at 8pm EST on the CBS.
