‘The Good Wife’ Spinoff News & Update: Title Revealed, Production Begins!

CBS just recently revealed the title of "The Good Wife" spinoff series. Besides, revealing the title of "The Good Wife" series, the filming of the show is underway in New York.

"The Good Wife" spinoff series is named "The Good Fight" as announced by CBS last Monday. The "Good Fight" is set a year after "The Good Wife" ends. It will star "The Good Wife" alums Christine Baranski, Cush Lumbo, and Sarah Steele. They will reprise their roles as Diane Lockhart, Lucas Quinn, and Marissa Gold respectively.

Former "Game Of Thrones" actress Rose Leslie will play the role of Maia, a young lawyer whose reputation takes a hit when a financial scam is uncovered. Maia's mentor, Diane Lockhart will have all her savings wiped out with the scam. Both Maia and her mentor, Diane Lockhart, will join Lucas Quinn at a top law firm in Chicago.

Bernadette Peters (Smash), Paul Guilfoyle (CSI), Delroy Lindo (Chicago Fire), and Erica Tazel (Justified) will round up the ensemble for "The Good Fight". "The Good Wife" creators Michelle and Robert King will be the show runners and executive producers for the "The Good Fight".

Show runners Michelle and Robert King has said that doing "The Good Wife" spinoff series focusing on Christine Baranski's Diane Lockhart character is a "no-brainer". "The Good Wife" creators have also said that Christine Baranski has this pull of the audience. Both agree that Christine Baranski has a certain sense of command in a room but still presents an underlying sensitivity.

"The Good Fight" will be the first all-digital series for CBS All Access. It replaces the original series "Star Trek: Discovery" in CBS' streaming service. "The Good Fight" will be broadcasted in CBS this coming February. Its new episodes will then be available on CBS All Access.
