Parenting Style Dilemma: Which Child-Raising Approach Is The Right Way?

A family is the basis of society, parents are usually more accounted for their household, as bringing up a child is one difficult task. It is always questioned how to deal with kids, being strict or lenient.

Normally, people came across two approaches, a strict or authoritarian approach, the one in which children are obliged to follow the rules. Psychologically this approach is more of forcefully acquiring a child's disciplined behavior.

The second approach is based on leniency, a permissive parenting idea. In this way, fewer limits are set and children are extended the courtesy to deal with their daily routine as they like.

In the whole time period of parenthood, situations vary on daily basis. According to The Cayman Reporter, setting up rules might seem like a good idea in one scenario but it rather doesn't seem appropriate in another. In an authoritarian style, everything is apprehended according to the parents, yet the child's instincts remain unadorned.

As per Empowering Parents, when children leave the house to go camping or party, they want to be on their own, they want to experience the things, while in such an event a strict answer would be a NO to going out, which is definitely not the right answer. Permission to go out by setting the rule to remain under provision of some elder or coming home early is probably a way best for both child and parents.

Parenting ideas could differ, that is why it is important to understand the situation and the thoughts of the child. It's not wise to be in one approach while you're being a parent. Children have many needs, sometimes they would ask for something which could be harmful to them but at the same time they are children, they could not be as experienced as their parents.

Therefore, a balanced parenting approach is the best way. Rules should be made so as to protect them and help them in becoming a better adult, and leniency should be extended so that their potential can develop to its fullest extent possible.
