China Keen On Introducing Some Aspects Of American Sports In Its Universities

Body fitness and exercise is very important. Sports and outdoor activities are the best way to keep the body fit and healthy. In the US, universities pay great attention towards sports for students. Campus sport is not just sport, it is much more than that. It helps in building confidence and understanding the value of teamwork.

THE reported that China is looking forward to introduce US campus sport in Chinese universities, Chinese and US sports officials discussed the matter at a summit in Shanghai recently.

Federation of University Sport China's (FUSC) Secretary general and Vice-president Yang Liguo shared praised the sporting system of US universities and said that he wants to change the misconception in China that sports waste time and have no practical help in life.

He further added that US campus sport is very popular worldwide and it not only helps in the athletic aspect but also help the students in understanding the meaning of teamwork and joint efforts. Universities are famous for not only producing athletes but also leaders in all fields. Yang said that Chinese students are not sport enthusiasts, unlike US students who take great pleasure in playing different sports.

China Daily also shared the news of Chinese university to acquire campus sport similar to that of US and also highlighted the basketball match between Harvard and Stanford's university teams. Stanford defeated Harvard by ten points. The match was hosted at the summit of Shanghai

Larry Scott, the commissioner of PAC 12, a collegiate sport system which has 12 universities including Stanford and UCLA, said that China has a lot of talent in sports and it will be a good experience to share sporting system with China. The Director of the IVY league, Robin Harris advised that Chinese sports should be established in Campuses where new sport system is welcomed, so these schools can play matches among them.
