Tusla Care Center Poses 'Higher Risk' To Children

Children are shifted to care centres with an objective to improve their distorted lifestyle but when the care centre itself is making them to do the chores and household tasks then it a mere disappointment.

A similar disappointing activity has been reported at a care centre run by Tulsa. It has been discovered that the children admitted there are secretly made to work for the staff and are being paid for it.

According to Irish Times, children are forced to do chores like gardening, cleaning etc for the staff. This is a disgrace to the institute and exploitation of children rights. An unannounced inspection was carried out at the place for a period of three days. It was discovered that the children are at more risk at the care centre then they were at their homes. According to the statistics there were absentees of about two hundred and seventy-seven children at the centre in a time period of about twelve months.

These children were found working at the homes of the staff employed at the centre. Other ill practices were also reported to have been occurring at the centre. Sexual behavior, alcohol consumption and violent attitude of the staff towards the children was prevalent. Children were not in a safe environment, force was being used and children were detained individually to be assaulted physically, they were beaten up and being treated like they are not humans.

The staff had been warned many time to stop this kind of activity as they were employed to help these children. Opposite was found to take place at the children care centre. These kind of activities are a clear violation of children basic right. Keeping this inspection in consideration, induction of children at this centre has been provisionally boycotted, untill a proper and safer environment with cooperating staff is ensured.
