‘Luke Cage’ Season 2 News & Update: Second Season Confirmed!; Will It Return In 2018?

Netflix has just confirmed that the action series "Luke Cage," featuring Mike Colter in the lead role, will return for season 2. The announcement did not reveal the return date yet but reports predict a 2018 premiere.

Netflix made the season 2 announcement through a short video posted on the official Twitter account of the series, using the same opening music of the series and its tag line "Always forward." The announcement video did not show much details as it only announced the series is coming back for season 2. In the short clip, fans can see a sign board flashing a lighted "Season 2 Coming Soon" displayed on the glass window of Pop's Barber Shop. The return date was not even revealed yet so fans of "Luke Cage" will have to wait for more announcements.

Considering the series of shows already lined up on Netflix, the return date for "Luke Cage" might probably be in 2018, Slash Film predicted. For 2017, Netflix has scheduled to release "Iron Fist," "The Defenders" and Daredevil spin-off "The Punisher." Since Marvel will be releasing three shows already for 2017, it is unlikely that the studio will include the new season of "Luke Cage" to debut in the same year.

On the other hand, Marvel has only lined up 2 shows to premiere in 2018. "Jessica Jones" season 2 and "Daredevil" season 3 will both premiere in 2018, so the publication predicted that Marvel can still accommodate a third series, which is most likely the second season of "Luke Cage."

Meanwhile, "Luke Cage" lead cast Mike Colter has previously teased that the Heroes for Hire will most likely be featured in season 2. Luke Cage is speculated to partner with the Heroes for Hire and Iron Fist in season 2.

Netflix' hit action series "Luke Cage" is about a fugitive Luke Cage, who is aiming to redeem his life the modern day Harlem. However, he was quickly pulled out of the shadows to fight for his city.
