‘Battlefield 1’ Game Update: Free DLC ‘Giant’s Shadow’ Map in Action Today With A Crossbow Grenade Launcher & More Updates

Finally, with only a few hours remaining, "Battlefield 1" latest update, the "Giant's Shadow" map, will be out on Dec. 13. Also included in the update are the new weapon, a grenade crossbow and the usual gameplay adjustments, balances, and other additions.

According to GameSpot, EA will host a Twitch Livestream to showcase more "Battlefield 1" free Giant's Shadow map DLC beginning today at 1 PM (PT)/4PM (ET). Players can check out the website to check location-specific schedules. The event can also be viewed via the Battlefield Companion App.

Besides, of course, the new map, a grenade-launcher crossbow comes with the update. This will be a new gadget for the support class and, obviously, will shoot grenades.

Among other changes that are added to the first major update for "Battlefield 1" is the Spectator Mode. This update will enable "Battlefield 1" players to sit in and watch a battle as it happens. Players can even switch between first- and third-person camera angles from players in action. A bird's eye view is another option also, allowing the player to see the action from above, as reported by WWG. Meanwhile, the "Free Cam" allows players to move anywhere on the Giant's Shadow map during a fight.

Polygon reported that a new game option for "Battlefield 1" called the "Standard Issue Rifle" is added. This upgrade will limit classes to using only one standard rifle once activated. The weapons don't come with optics. Dice explained: "These weapons are not equipped with optics, and are intended to provide players with gameplay inspired by the WW1 trenches."

"Giant's Shadow" is considered as the first and biggest DLC launched for free for "Battlefield 1." The ones who purchased the Premium Pass DLC subscription or pre-ordered "Battlefield 1" will be able to play it tomorrow, Dec. 13, while everyone else gets the "Giant's Shadow" map beginning Dec. 20. "Battlefield 1" can be played on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
