Apple iOS 10.2 News & Update: Latest iOS Now Available; TV App Among New Features

Apple's iOS 10.2 is now available to download, and it includes among others a TV app that gives users an array of entertainment choices available for online streaming. Apple's TV app is the newest feature of iOS 10.2 when compared with older versions of the operating system.

According to Forbes, the TV app has a section called "Watch Now" that recommends new movies and TV programs, and a "Store" tab for finding new apps and the latest iTunes releases. If you are watching a movie and had to stop, the "Up Next" function of the TV apps will let you resume where you left off.

While it is a cool addition to the iPhone and iPad, the TV app is particularly useful for the Apple TV because it gives the system an all-new interface, The Verge reports. It also serves as an app for Apple TV users to stay in while they are searching for the next movie or TV show to watch.

CNET notes that the TV app on iOS 10.2 does not have Netflix, the most popular movie streaming site today. Apple TV users, however, can still sign in to Netflix on a separate app.

Besides the TV app, iOS 10.2 has a host of new features for Apple devices. These include a single sign-on system that works across various cable TV apps, new wallpapers, a videos app widget, and a feature to preserve camera settings.

iOS 10.2 also has a function that lets users activate Siri or use voice control just by pressing and holding the Home button, a "Show Star Ratings" feature, a headphone icon located in the status bar, and 100 new emojis that include male and female versions of various occupations like firefighters.

Before iOS 10.2 arrived, Apple last updated its operating system on October 31 with iOS 10.1.1.
