‘Dynasty Warriors 9’ News & Updates: Koei Tecmo Reveals Game Going Open World; Will Include Whole Map of China and New Characters?

The open-world game now welcomes "Dynasty Warriors 9." Officially announced by publisher Koei Tecmo, the latest addition in the long line of Japanese hack-and-slash game has been unveiled.

This is the first time that "Dynasty Warriors" series is going for an open-world version. Their ninth entry, "Dynasty Warriors 9," recently had its debut trailer, which you can watch below. Note that, the "8" in the trailer shouldn't be confused with the number of "Dynasty Warriors" games as the Japanese numbering for game titles is one number behind that the Western releases.

Eurogamer noted that game Koei Tecmo did not announce any platform to which they will release the much-anticipated "Dynasty Warriors 9." But a safe bet would have been PlayStation 4. However, one thing is for sure, the newest open-world game will feature Zhou Cang as one of the playable characters.

"Dynasty Warrior 9" has been described by its producer Akihiro Suzuki as a "rebirth" for the hack-and-slash series, as reported by Siliconera. The report furthered that game developer Omega Force intends to cram the whole map of China into one in-game map.

However, due to China's mountainous terrain, not all locations will host battles. But Hulao Pass and Zhongyuan, among the famous battle locations, will be highly detailed for players of "Dynasty Warriors 9" open-world version.

Also, Omega Force, according to VG247, is abandoning the Square for attack and Triangle for Charge attack in the open-world game "Dynasty Warriors 9." But the basic gameplay is retained, which is the 1 v 1000.

Meanwhile, GameSpot reported that all 83 characters from "Dynasty Warriors 8" will return with the addition of new fighters gamers get to enjoy. One notable character is Zhou Cang, wielding the Dai Satsu Katana weapon. He is widely known from the historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the book where the game's inspiration comes from.
