‘Vampyr The Darkness Within’ The New Decision Based RPG Reveals Its Plot

Focus Home Interactive recently launched the cinematic trailer of "Vampyr - The Darkness Within." The upcoming action RPG's plot is darker and scarier than what was predicted.

The trailer showcased the citizens of London sharing their doubts, thoughts, suspicions about the main character. These observations are generated by the way the player control Dr. Reid during the game."Vampyr the Darkness Within," is an action RPG set in 1918 in the streets of London which are infested with Spanish Flu. The player will take control of Dr. Jonathan Reid who is also infected with a different type of ailment called Vampirism. Dr. Reid will need to balance his work as a physician and living with what he considers as a disease, based on the trailer by Focus Home Interactive.

"Vampyr The Darkness Within" introduces a new type of gameplay wherein each single character within the game has their own identity. The game lets the player decide who kill and who to save. Each time a character dies, everything will be affected and its impact will be felt by the entire system. The game also features a variety of creatures and species of vampires. Vampire hunters are always on a prowl in search for their new bounty. Crafting materials will also play a big part throughout the game which gives the player freedom to improve his tools or add other components which will exploit the weakness of his nemesis. "Vampyr The Darkness Within" will either turn the player's character into a hero or a very powerful dark entity based on the decisions made throughout the game.

Dontnod has been developing decision-based games for quite some time now. The French development studio's last work was called "Life is Strange" which features a teenager named Max. The main character of the game has the ability to manipulate time which helps her correct the mistakes and actions she recently performed. "Life is Strange" received the Best Adventure Game and the Best Original Game in 2015 from the Global Game Awards. And by the looks of it, "Vampyr the Darkness Within" will likely achieve the accomplishments of "Life is Strange."
