'The Belko Experiment' Is Not Just Another Bad Day At The Office

“The Belko Experiment” seemingly follows the route of “Battle Royale” wherein the number of people decreases as the time passes. Who will be left behind?

The film follows the lives and death of 80 employees working for the Belko Corp. The company’s a nonprofit organization. Something wrong happens to the security of the company’s headquarters outside Bogota city.

The employees, including the manager Mike (John Gallagher Jr.) and Leandra (Adria Arjona) thinks that everything’s just a big prank. They hear a voice in the intercom saying that many of the remaining employees will die within eight hours, Variety reports.

So, this isn’t really just a familiar and usual bad day at the office as the employees are set to be used in an experiment of survival. “The Belko Experiment” isn’t the only film that follows a similar setup.

However, some critics consider that the film gives more justice to the storyline and theme. It’s a dark and ugly film that makes the viewers think of every human being’s capacity when they are pushed to the corner.

Director of “The Belko Experiment,” Greg McLean, makes the film indifferent from the fact people have already been and are being gunned down in the real world. Mclean adds that the film can satirize and even make everything so violent, Collider reports.

However, some critics say that the film is just another morbid office film. Other reviews of the film during the Toronto Film Festival also criticized the film for lacking the “greatness” that it aims to show.

Nevertheless, there are still a lot some positive aspects of the film and the story. Though it’s quite feat to be violent and grotesque and come out as a great picture, the mess still provokes the essence of what it is to be human.

“The Belko Experiment” is set to hit the theaters on March 17, 2017. Tell us what do you expect of the film, sound your comments below.
