11-Year-Old Creative Girl Makes Flags for Frontliners to Show Her Appreciation and Gratitude

An 11-year-old creative girl makes flags with inspirational messages to show appreciation to frontliners. She wants to show her gratefulness to the people who sacrifice their lives every day.

Callie Danysh creates "Flags of Gratitude" to thank all the frontline staff since they have been working endlessly since March. The New Jersey girl paints every flag or tile using her creativity. To show her support to the selfless people, she adds inspirational messages in each piece of artwork.

The girl wanted to do more

Danysh noted that things were fine under quarantine, but she wanted to do more. She wanted to put smiles on the heroes' faces while they do their duties, so she makes the flags to give back to the community.

Danysh has been leaving flags around Morristown, Morris Plains, and Morris Township. She wants to make sure to "honor a hero" everywhere she goes. Local businesses and organizations' staff and volunteers see the young girl's work. The people are finding Flags of Gratitude, which are dedicated to them.

Already made 2,000 flags

The creative girl has already made 2,000 flags to uplift and encourage others. You could find her artwork on the Flags of Gratitude Facebook page. Danysh is expanding her list of heroes as she continues to make more flags to honor more people.

Using some Sharpie markers and paint pens, Danysh has been honoring former service personnel on November 11. She has been making special flags so she could place them outside the Morris Plains where the Veterans of Foreign Wars site could be found.

She also made flags for Navy Recruiting Center and Morristown's Army a month ago.

Raised funds to help others

The 11-year-old wants to show others how big of a heart she has. She started a fundraiser to help the people who are in need. She started raising money as part of her project. She had raised $11,000 in July then donated the money to HelpMorrisNow. The campaign provides food and clothing for the local people who need them.

Danysh is currently raising money for two more organizations: Good Grief and Hubert's Animal Welfare. Good Grief is an organization that helps families who are going through loss, while Hubert's Animal Welfare is dedicated to promoting the humane treatment of animals.

The helpful girl explained that it makes her feel really good for helping others, so she enjoys spreading kindness to them. She prints her 9-inch photo tiles designed by her so people could keep them for a longer time, and they could donate to the charity.

Originally, Flags of Gratitude was a Cub Scout elective. Its mission is to spread both kindness and gratitude to other people, especially those who sacrifice themselves to keep other people safe and well.
