Minnesota parents were the victims of a brutal stabbing by their adult son in Champlin, which is believed to be a result of a "drug-induced rage."

The incident forced officials to implement a shelter-in-place order as police officers searched for the 40-year-old suspect, Travis William Lester. The suspect is currently facing two counts of second-degree murder for an alleged attack on his parents.

Champlin police said that their officers responded to the report of an assault on the 7100 block of 120th Avenue at around 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5. Witnesses initially reported that they heard someone fumble the phone while another person yelled, "No."

Officers who responded to the scene said that as they approached the family's home, they saw blood-covered hands gripping the bottom of a second-floor deck railing. They also heard moaning in the area.

Law enforcement personnel added that the adult man they saw said that his son stabbed him in a "drug-induced rage." He also told officials that he had no idea where the suspect went, adding that his wife was also a victim and left injured, according to Fox9.

When medical personnel arrived at the scene, they determined that the male victim had multiple stab wounds to his chest and wrists, adding that he had lost a large amount of blood and was going into shock.

The charges against the suspect revealed that authorities found the second victim in a neighboring home and quickly provided medical attention. She was said to have suffered from multiple wounds to her arms and chest, including a four-inch wound to her neck.

The Champlin Police Department later stated that, out of an abundance of caution, officers requested a shelter-in-place order while actively searching for the suspect. However, when investigators believed the man had left the City of Champlin, the order was rescinded, the Hindustan Times reported.

The order initially affected a one-mile radius around Andrews Park while police officers were searching for the suspect. Despite the lifting of the order, authorities said that the situation remains an active and ongoing investigation.

When police searched the family's home, they found a bloody knife under a kitchen table and heard reports of the suspect's vehicle being seen near Brooklyn Park at around 6:12 p.m. Later on Saturday, at around 12:30 a.m., police were able to arrest the man responsible for the brutal stabbing attack on the couple, as per KSTP.
