Ubisoft Holds Free-To-Play Event for ‘The Division’ This Weekend But There’s A Catch!

Ubisoft is holding a free weekend on PC for players wanting to try out "The Division." The game is free beginning Dec. 15 at 10 AM (PST) and is slated to run until 1 PM (PST) Sunday, Dec. 18. But there is a catch. Players will have to go through Uplay.

Players will be able to play the "entirety of the core game." This includes the recent overhaul update that convinced players the game is worth their time, and money, according to Destructoid. Of course, since this is a 3-day free event, the game "The Division" free to play doesn't cover the season pass holders. The "Survival mode" this time is not up for grabs.

Forbes reported that any progress made during the free-to-play weekend of "The Division" will carry over to the full version of the game once you purchase it. Also, it will only cost about half o the original price.

Meanwhile, during the event, Uplay will sell "The Division" at half price. So, it will be $25 (or $45 for the Gold edition, which includes the season pass), per GameSpot.

On another note, console gamers will be disappointed as "The Division" free to play does not extend to either Xbox One or PS4, for now, that is. But there might a possibility where Ubisoft might hold another free-to-play weekend for console players, especially now that the holiday season still has a few weeks left, as reported by GameRant.

The free-to-play weekend allows players to try out the game, which has had a tough start. "The Division" players abandoned the game due to bug issues and other major problems. However, Ubisoft Massive has made a tremendous effort to correct and fix any problems reported by most players, hoping they would come back and try the game.

This method has worked before for "Overwatch" players, but "The Division" does not have the massive following compared with "Overwatch."

"The Division" is out now for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
